Kailash
Mansarovar Yatra Traveling overland from Kathmandu
in Nepal to Mt. Kailash, which lies in the Southwestern part
of Tibet is an incredible 15-day journey, an epic pilgrimage
that is expeditionary in nature. It is undoubtedly the
toughest and most rewarding of all such journeys known to man.
En route you can see the world's highest mountains, travel on
the world's highest plain and drive along some magnificent
lakes. With Banjara, the entire trip is transformed into a
smooth, comfortable and personalized one with a small group of
like-minded people. All your energies are focused only on the
holy abode and the emotions associated with it. Come join us
on this year's Yatra commencing 3rd July, 7th August or 4th
September. |

Zanskar
Rafting Expedition Every year, our two-week
'special' covers most of spectacular western Ladakh,
monasteries, palaces, villages, hikes and travel down
three mighty rivers. The trip begins with a flight over
the Himalayas into the Trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh
in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. We spend a few days
in Leh town acclimatizing at 11,000 feet above sea
level. Starting the trip on the Doda River, we begin our
self-contained multi-day river adventure down the
spectacular and scenic Zanskar river gorge. The trip
takes you down the extremely desolate and remote Zanskar
gorge with walls rising a few thousand feet out of the
river bed, culminating on the mighty Indus river, (which
incidentally lends India its name) at the historic
monastic conclave at Alchi. This is truly a classic
journey to the last horizon of our shrinking planet
starting August 7th and 21st. |

Ladakh
Jeep Safaris To the West of the Himalayas,
Ladakh is a region that remained cut off from the rest
of the world for historical reasons and hence has
retained its unique character. It is a land like no
other. Bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain
ranges, the Great Himalayas and the Karakoram, Ladakh
lies athwart two others, the Ladakh range and the
Zanskar range, and covers almost 1,00,000 sq. kms. or a
little more than twice the size of Switzerland! With
Tibet and Xinjiang regions of China to the East and
North West, and Pakistan to the West, Ladakh occupies a
key strategic position. Now, one can explore the high
altitude cold desert of Ladakh through Jeep Safaris.
Start in Manali and drive right through some of the
highest passes, past some of the largest high-altitude
lakes to reach the land of Buddhism, ironically part of
the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
