JORHAT-SIBSAGAR-MAJULI-KAZIRANGA-JORHAT


Day 01 : Arrive Delhi/Kolkata
Assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02 : Delhi/Kolkata to Guwahati/Jorhat
Assistance on arrival and transfer to a private Tea Guest House. Lunch on arrival. Afternoon visit Jorhat town.

Day 03 : JORHAT-DAY TRIP TO SIBSAGAR
After breakfast, drive to Sibsagar, the old capital of the Ahoms who ruled Assam for 600 years before the arrival of the British. There are a number of old monuments built by them, the most significant being the huge man made tank 'Sibsagar' from which the town has got its name. There is 'Rang ghar' the two-storied amphitheater built to enjoy games & sports and dance & music. Return to Jorhat for night stay.

Day 04 : JORHAT-DAY TRIP TO MAJULI
After breakfast, proceed to Majuli, the largest river island in the world and the seat of Vaishnava culture in Assam. A short drive from Jorhat and then an hour in the ferry across the Brahmaputra will take us to the island. The great 15th century Assamese reformer and saint, Sankardeva had come down here and set up 'satras' or Vaishnavite monasteries to motivate people towards art, culture and religion. Interact with the monks and other locales there. Lunch at the island. Late afternoon, return to Jorhat for overnight stay.

Day 05 : JORHAT-KAZIRANGA
After breakfast, drive down to the Kaziranga National Park, home to the famed one horned rhino. See tea estates along the way. On arrival, check into resort. Afternoon, jeep safari through the western side of the Park. Dinner around campfire. Overnight.

Day 06 : KAZIRANGA
Early morning, drive through the eastern side of the park on elephant back. Apart from the Rhino, other species found are the hog deer, swamp deer, wild buffalo, elephants and if you are lucky, the tiger. It is a paradise for bird watchers, with a variety of migratory and resident birds. We will return to the resort for breakfast. Afternoon, again visit the park. In the evening, tribal dance. Dinner around bonfire. Overnight.

Day 07 : KAZIRANGA- GUWAHATI/JORHAT AIRPORT TRANSFER
Drive to Guwahati/Jorhat for onward flight.
