The ultimate winter adventure that takes you deep into the Himalayas to a small village in Spiti that has in recent years become a hot spot to sight the elusive Snow Leopard as well as other exotic Himalayan fauna and avi-fauna

    FEB 14: CHANDIGARH - THANEDAR (2350 M) 195 kms / 6 hrs

    Day 1: FEB 14: CHANDIGARH - THANEDAR (2350 M) 195 kms / 6 hrs

    Reach Chandigarh Airport / Railway Station (morning Shatabdi from Delhi) and drive via Shimla & Narkanda to reach the apple orchard draped mountainside of Thanedar. Evening at leisure besides a bonfire in the Banjara Orchard Retreat.

    Post breakfast depart for Sangla Valley, Reach the Banjara Camp & Retreat in Sangla Valley by late afternoon and enjoy the evening by a bonfire. Night stay in the Banjara Retreat.

    FEB 16: SANGLA – driving excursion to Chitkul & Nagasthi

    Day 3: FEB 16: SANGLA – driving excursion to Chitkul & Nagasthi

    Do an exciting drive to Chitkul – the last Indian village. A snow walk exploring the village and a snow hike to the border outpost of Nagasthi would be really nice. Of course, spending time at the higher altitude of this area (3450 M) would also help in acclimatizing for the adventures that lie ahead. Overnight at the Banjara Retreat.

    After an early start we drive towards Spiti. En route we stop in Upper Kinnaur to take a look at the lovely lake in Nako and further ahead, once in Spiti, we see the over 1000 yr old gompa in Tabo. Moving on along the Spiti River we reach Sichling where we cross the river and reach the beautifully poised twin villages of Mane. Check into a homestay and relax in this stunning locale while getting acclimatized further.

    FEB 18: MANE

    Day 5: FEB 18: MANE

    The Mane area is a great place for spotting Tibetan Wolves and Red Foxes, we will spend the day hiking in the area trying to spot these elusive creatures. Overnight in the homestay.

    FEB 19:  MANE – Dhankar - KIBBER (4300 M) 63 km / 3 hrs

    We drive back to the main highway and then take a detour to see the impossibly located Dhankar Gompa. Later, carry on along the Spiti River past Kaza to reach the stunning village of Kibber. Located within the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary, this area is renowned as a wintertime haunt of Snow Leopards, Blue Sheep, Siberian Ibex and high altitude bird life. Check into a homestay, stroll around in the village, chat up with the locals and take a close peek at the Spitian way of life.

    Your routine for the next four days would be to head out after breakfast in search of wildlife; you will be supported and accompanied in this endeavour by our team of experienced spotters. Evenings would be the time for lively cultural exchanges with the Spitian families of this village and nights would be spent in the homestay.

    Bid adieu to your hosts and head back to Kinnaur. You reach Kalpa where you can enjoy soul-stirring views of the Kinner Kailash Massif, especially at sunset & during sunrise the following morning. Overnight stay in The Grand Shambhala.

    Drive back towards Shimla and reach Koti near Chail. Overnight stay in Band Box / Koti Resort.

    FEB 26: KOTI - KALKA RLY STN 100 km / 3.5 hrs OR CHANDIGARH AIRPORT 125 km / 4.5 hrs

    Day 13: FEB 26: KOTI - KALKA RLY STN 100 km / 3.5 hrs OR CHANDIGARH AIRPORT 125 km / 4.5 hrs

    After breakfast get dropped at Kalka and catch the evening Shatabdi back to Delhi or reach Chandigarh Airport for your return flight.
