How to Reach

On the main highway towards Shimla, at Kandaghat (29 km before Shimla) turn right on to the Kandaghat – Chail – Kufri road. Proceed for 10 km from the turn-off point, watch out for Minchy’s Juice Bar (on your right) and then immediately afterwards take a sharp left hairpin bend on to the Sadhupul – Thana Barol Road (marked by a signboard for our retreat); carry on for 01 km past the Minchy’s Fruit Juice & Pickles Factory (on your left) and just after take a sharp right hairpin bend (marked by a signboard for our retreat); follow this road for 1 ½ km to reach a sharp right hairpin bend (marked by a signboard for our retreat). Take this turn and proceed for just over 1 km to reach the parking lot for our retreat.

Things to see & do

Madak Mata Temple

This small hilltop temple for the local deity offers lovely 360 degree views and entails a hike of about 2 ½ - 3 hrs (return)through totally pristine forest clad mountainside.

Exploratory Hikes & Walks

The forest clad mountainside around the property has an abundance of trails that are great for short strolls as well as longer hikes. Also you could hike/drive down to the base of the valley (Sadhupul) and spend time by the riverside (Ashwini River), walk along it: this would also be very enjoyable especially in the morning and early evening.

Chail

Drive for about 30 mins to main Chail: see the highest cricket ground in the world, have lunch at the Chail Palace, visit Kali Ka Tibba – small shrine on a hilltop which offers magnificent views and the vibrant Chail Bazaar. En route, you could also visit the Himalayan Nature Park and see Himalayan Black Bears, Tibetan Wolves, Leopards and exotic Himalayan avi-fauna.
