Sojha is a little village at about 5 kms from the Jalori Pass that links the Shimla and Kulu districts. Located in the undiscovered Seraj Valley, this area is a part of the Great Himalayan National Park. It is characterized by thickly wooded mountainside with forests of conifers, deodars, toosh; and magnificent views of the snow clad Dhauladhar & Pir Panjal Ranges. Our mountain lodge here, the Banjara Retreat and Cottage, comprises of two wooden houses with rooms & suites; all with en suite facilities, and a well equipped kitchen that dishes out mouth watering delicacies. The numerous walks and treks in the surrounding forests and meadows are a special feature of the area and the drive to the retreat is a pleasure in itself.

Accomodation

Banjara Cottage: 6 dlx rooms spread over 3 floors. Each floor has separate entrance and only 2 rooms per floor.

Banjara Retreat: 2 dlx rooms and 2 suites. All on top floor.

All rooms are fully furnished with attached bath and hot and cold water supply. All the rooms face the valley and Dhauladhar ranges beyond. The cottage offers amazing and full views. The retreat offers restricted views.

How to Reach

At Aut, 29 kms short of Kulu, turn right. After crossing the Beas, drive through Larji and Banjar to reach Sojha. Aut-Sojha is 38 kms.

Or on NH 22 from Shimla to Sangla, turn left at Sainj, (28 kms. ahead of Narkanda). After crossing the Sutlej, drive through Luhri, Ani and Jalori Pass to reach Sojha. Sainj-Sojha is 53 kms.

Things to see & do

Serolsar Lake

A beautiful 5-6 hr return hike from Jalori Pass through a dense Oak forest.

 

Raghupur Fort Meadows

Another interesting walk from Jalori Pass on a trail through forests of Oak & Rhododendron which opens out into a vast meadow that ends on a small verdant plateau with the ruins of an ancient fort.  The spot offers panoramic views of the valleys with the Dhauladhars & Pir Panjal ranges in the back drop.

 

Waterfall Point

An hour’s walk through a thick Himalayan forest, this is best done on the day of your arrival to help acclimatize to the rarefied atmosphere. Of course, it is also the perfect early morning walk on any day.

 

Tirthan Valley

The Tirthan Valley is about 30 kms from Sojha. The Tirthan River which gushes through this valley is great for Trout Fishing.

 

Great Himalayan National Park

A little ahead of Tirthan valley is The Great Himalayan National Park. You can enjoy a day hike in the park and cap it off with an unforgettable overnight camping experience.

 

Angling

Fly fishing is possible on certain sections of the Tirthan River during specified times in the year.  You will need to get your own gear and permits are needed, we can take care of this but you’d need to let us know well in advance.
